Celsius Withdraws Over 6,000 Staked ETH and Plans to Sue Creditor

Cryptory.net - Bankruptcy crypto lender Celsius has withdrawn 6,521 staked ETH worth more than $13 million after Shapella upgrade.

As Lookonchain reported, 239,882 ETH was withdrawn on April 14, worth $504.5 million. The top three addresses that withdrew their assets were bankrupt lender Celsius, liquid staking solution Lido and Figment. Data from blockchain analytics firm Nansen corroborated that Celsius is withdrawing its assets. It seems that Celsius has withdrawn 4,991 ETH since April 13, equivalent to 3.64%.

According to Arkham Intelligence, Celsius holds 410,378 staked ETH, worth $862.45 million. Meanwhile, Lookonchain noted that Lido withdrew 152,780 ETH, equivalent to 64% of the total withdrawals. Staking solutions provider Figment withdrew the second largest amount of ETH with 7,135.

Besides Celsius, centralized crypto exchanges – Kraken, Binance, Coinbase, Gemini, and Huobi – account for about 85% of entities waiting to withdraw their ETH. According to Nansen data, 1,117 million ETH is currently pending withdrawal. Among them, Kraken accounts for most of the pending withdrawals with 556,321 ETH. Binance is second with 216,208 ETH, while Coinbase is third with 117,239. Huobi and Gemini are pending 71,377 ETH.

Recent regulatory actions in the US could force companies in the region to withdraw their staked ETH. In February, the SEC fined Kraken $30 million for not registering its staking service. The regulator has also filed a lawsuit against Gemini and has issued a notice from Wells to Coinbase.

Crypto blogger Tiffany Fong also suggested that Celsius wants to sue her in an April 14 tweet. Fong shared a screenshot of Celsius’ monthly fee statement, which includes a $72,000 bill titled “Dispute with Tiffany Fong”.

Tiffany Fong is a creditor of Celsius after about $119,000 was locked in the company. She actively reported on Celsius’s bankruptcy case. This blogger also caught the attention of the crypto market when she interviewed the founder of now-defunct crypto exchange, FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried.
