Coca-Cola Launches World Cup NFTs on Crypto.com, CRO Price Surges

10,000 NFTs will be issued on the Crypto.com blockchain based on heatmap from FIFA World Cup 2022 matches.

Crypto.com partnered with the beverage giant Coca-Cola to release an NFT collection celebrating World Cup 2022. CRO price rose sharply after the news.

Accordingly, 10,000 NFTs created by Coca-Cola and digital artist GMUNK will be hosted on Crypto.com’s NFT platform. NFTs are minted by tracking player movements during this year’s World Cup matches.

Fans can purchase NFT after registering an account on the exchange’s NFT platform. To increase their chances of winning the “Piece of Magic” NFT, users can register on Coca-Cola’s fanzone website.

“This year’s FIFA World Cup will be the first to leverage Web3 technology,” Steven Kalifowitz, chief marketing officer at Crypto.com, said in the release. “It’s a privilege to partner with Coca-Cola and GMUNK to memorialize these historical matches that will forever be captured on the blockchain. Together we are creating a completely new form of memorabilia.”

CRO was up 10% after the news was released and dropped slightly to $0.069 at press time, but it is still one of the best-performing coins of the day.

Coca-Cola is not the only big player taking advantage of FIFA World Cup “fever”. Binance, the biggest cryptocurrency exchange, has teamed up with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo to release a CR7 NFT collection. Besides, Ronaldinho also promoted the meme coin to follow the World Cup trend.
