Dogecoin Unleashes New Update to Improve Security and Efficiency

Dogecoin's new update is integrated into the core software, which improves security, efficiency, and user interface.

The new update, called Dogecoin Core 1.14.6, was released on Thursday with many security upgrades and new features. All users in the network are encouraged to download the latest version.

One of the most notable upgrades is a change in the configuration of the wallet backup directory and the limit on the maximum number of addnode records. The number of addnodes has been limited to 800. This is a necessary upgrade to the DOGE fee mechanism: dust limits for all network participants have been reduced from 1 DOGE to 0.01 DOGE.

In case of congestion, the network’s memory management will be enhanced. The announcement also reveals that the network now rejects error messages. Dogecoin Core developer Patrick Lodder wrote on Github as following:

“This is a new minor version release, including important security updates and changes to network efficiency. All Dogecoin Core users — miners, services, relay operators and wallet users — are strongly recommended to upgrade.”

This event follows a recent series of positive reactions in the Dogecoin community. They have been extremely excited about the introduction of meme coins into Dogeverse, prompting a significant increase in network activity. The network processed more than 80,000 transactions in the last 24 hours, for the first time since May 2021 this week, as many big players showing interest in DOGE.

Dogecoin has always been one of the most popular meme coins with an overwhelming number of whales on Binance. Following the latest market rally, the network has seen a significant increase in transactions worth over $100,000.
