Fantom (FTM) Skyrockets More Than 25% on Andre Cronje’s Return

Cryptory.net - Fantom (FTM) suddenly spiked again on the news that “Godfather of DeFi” Andre Cronje could return.

After a long time hiding from the crypto space, Andre Cronje, on Nov 3, suddenly posted a tweet, indicating that he would return. FTM then surged more than 25% and now is trading at $0.26 on CoinMarketCap.

Andre Cronje worked as senior solutions architect at the Fantom Foundation from 2018 to 2022. He is also the founder of many DeFi projects that emerged in 2020 such as Yearn Finance (YFI), Keep3r Network (KP3R), Multichain.xyz, and more; however, he announced his departure from the crypto industry in March 2022. At that time, the “Godfather of DeFi” claimed the number of projects he was collaborating on up to 25.

By the end of 2021, Andre Cronje announced he would build a new ve(3,3) DeFi protocol on Fantom blockchain called Solidly (SOLID). Solidly was then expected to become the key for Fantom to compete with other Layer-1 projects. However, the project encountered many difficulties when it was launched in February 2022, leading to the collapse of the model and Andre Cronje also decided to leave crypto. Fantom’s TVL then dropped from more than 8 billion USD in early March to only 4.5 billion USD only two weeks later.

Until Nov 3, Andre suddenly appeared on Twitter with a photo: “Ah shit, here we go again”. He also changed his LinkedIn profile to “Vice President of Memes” in Nov 2022. Right after that, cryptocurrencies that were once tied to Andre such as FTM, KP3R, SOLID all skyrocketed, especially FTM up more than 25%. The number of daily active addresses on Fantom also surged to more than 800,000, according to Nansen.

In addition, Andre Cronje also changed Twitter’s account to “iamdefinatelyandre.ftm” to promote Fantom Domains, the domain name project on Fantom like Ethereum Name Service. It is yet to be confirmed whether Andre Cronje is indeed back or if his Twitter account has been hacked.
