FTX Hacker Suddenly Transfers 225 Bitcoin to OKX Exchange

Cryptory.net - FTX has returned after a few days of silence when transferring a portion of stolen funds to the OKX exchange.

FTX hacker has transferred a portion of stolen funds to the OKX exchange after using the Bitcoin mixer ChipMixer, shared crypto analyst ZachXBT on Twitter. ZachXBT reports at least 225 BTC, worth about $4.1 million, sent to OKX so far.

The hacker first deposited BTC into ChipMixer on November 23, after using the cross-chain bridge RenBridge. ZachXBT shared that he has observed a pattern with addresses receiving money from ChipMixer. Each address follows a similar pattern, withdrawal from ChipMixer, 50% peels off and 50% deposited to OKX.

After discovering stolen funds were transferred to the OKX exchange, OKX Director Lennix Lai quickly shared on Twitter that OKX is aware of the situation and the team is investigating the wallet flow.

Just a day after FTX declared bankruptcy, the hacker stole over $600 million from the exchange’s wallets. Then on Nov 20, the hacker started transferring ETH he was holding to a new wallet address. That way, the attacker has become the 34th biggest ETH whale in the world. This person then continued to convert a large amount of stolen ETH to BTC, causing ETH price to drop to 1,100 USD.

The fact that hackers have quite easily stolen assets from FTX that raised speculation about it possibly being an inside job. After all, who suffer the most are still users because so far it is not clear how much of the investor’s assets are stuck on FTX.
