Square Enix Partners With Enjin to launch Final Fantasy NFT Collectibles

Cryptory.net - Gaming giant Square Enix has announced a partnership with Enjin to release NFT collectibles of the Final Fantasy franchise.

Square Enix, one of the largest video game companies in the world, has announced a partnership with Enjin to release upcoming NFT collections based on the Final Fantasy franchise. With the support of Enjin, Square Enix will be launching digital collectibles for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII. What’s more, not only digital products will be offered but also physical action figures and trading cards.

Packs of physical trading cards will be available in early 2023 for $4 per pack. By November 2023, the company will launch a limited edition action figure of Cloud Strife. Each figure will come with a code to redeem its NFT version minted on the Efinity platform, the first NFT parachain on Polkadot built by Enjin.

Enjin CTO Witek Radomski said that this is not the first time they have partnered with Square Enix. The two companies worked together a few years ago on hosting websites for online guilds that play Final Fantasy XIV.

Final Fantasy has sold 168 million copies worldwide since 1987. Recently, Square Enix has started to jump into the NFT space and blockchain, aiming to make NFTs focused on stories. They have been investing in The Sandbox since 2020 and have announced plans to bring its Dungeon siege franchise into the metaverse game world of The Sandbox.

The company also released NFT collectibles based on the Million Arthur game series in Japan last year, using the LINE blockchain platform. Earlier this year, Square Enix president also expressed interest in the NFT and crypto space. Square Enix even sold most of its biggest IPs for $300 million to focus on blockchain.
