Twitter Closes Offices As Employees Give Mass Resignation

Cryptory.net - Elon Musk was afraid that Twitter employees would try to sabotage the company so he closed offices and cut badge access until Monday.

The company notified employees Thursday evening that it will close its offices after hundreds of employees have resigned. This order is effective immediately, security officers kicked employees out of the office, one source said.

Many employees confirmed that their badge access had been disabled and were asked to leave the office immediately by their superiors, according to Business Insider. The company is known to reopen on November 21.

The reason comes from Elon Musk’s fear that employees will sabotage Twitter. “Elon Musk is obsessed with the idea that Twitter staff could sabotage the platform”, current and former employees reportedly say.

Along with the announcement of the closure, Twitter also warned employees to comply with the regulations at the company. “Please continue to comply with company policy by refraining from discussing confidential company information on social media, the press or elsewhere”, the notice noted.

According to Platformer reporter Zoë Schiffer, no employee has yet to be blocked from accessing the company’s internal systems, including those who have decided to quit. Musk and his team only selected people who committed to “working long hours at high intensity” to create Twitter 2.0.

Previously, Twitter offices also temporarily closed and cut employees’ access to internal systems on November 4 as the company planned to mass lay off employees at the wishes of Elon Musk. “To help ensure the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data, Twitter offices will be temporarily closed and all badge access will be suspended in order”, the email reads.

This closure comes just a week after Musk banned remote work at Twitter, saying they need to return to the office in the next few days. However, on Nov 17, Musk changed his mind, saying that employees could work from home if they were allowed by their management.

He also gave Twitter employees an ultimatum, asking them to commit to working hard to create a “Twitter 2.0” or resign. As Business Insider reported, less than half of the 4,000 employees agreed to stay. Musk and his team then had to meet with individual engineers to persuade them to stay.
