Twitter Partners With eToro to Let Users Buy Stocks and Crypto

As part of a fresh agreement with social investing firm eToro, Twitter users will now be able to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies.

In line with Elon Musk’s extensive vision of transforming the platform into a multifaceted “everything app” like WeChat, Twitter has taken the latest step towards achieving this goal.

According to eToro, the social trading platform, Twitter users can now view market charts and purchase and sell stocks, cryptocurrencies, and other assets via its mobile app. This partnership will expand the range of real-time trading data available to Twitter users, as well as the types of financial instruments and asset classes accessible.

Twitter users will be able to buy and sell stocks, cryptocurrencies, and other assets with the click of a button. The button, labeled “view on eToro,” will take users to eToro’s platform, where they can buy or sell assets.

The CEO of eToro, Yoni Assia, stated in an interview with CNBC that the agreement would help connect the two brands, claiming that in recent years, eToro users have increasingly turned to Twitter to “educate themselves about the markets.” Assia stated that there is a lot of “very high-quality” real-time content accessible and that the partnership with Twitter will help eToro expand to reach new audiences.

Elon Musk has previously floated the idea of transforming Twitter into a “super app” that offers users access to various online services in one location. In China, the concept of super apps is prevalent, with apps like WeChat serving as a gateway to everything consumers require in their daily lives, such as instant messaging, social media, travel and hotel booking, banking, and more.
