Coinbase’s Base Mainnet Officially Opens to Public

Cryptory.net - Coinbase’s layer 2 blockchain Base has officially opened its mainnet to the public, so crypto users will have the chance to experience Dapps on this platform.

Base had rolled out its mainnet to developers last July. This layer-2 blockchain network has integrated a wide range of crypto projects, including DeFi protocols, crypto wallets, bridges, oracles, analytics and infrastructure providers.

“We’re thrilled to announce that Base mainnet is now live and available for everyone. At launch, there are 100+ Dapps and service providers available in the Base ecosystem, as well as deep integrations across the Coinbase product ecosystem”, Coinbase’s Jesse Pollak said.

Layer-2 Base is expected to become the default network for its on-chain products. Along with the launch of the Base mainnet, Coinbase has initiated an event named “Onchain Summer”, which lasts several weeks with the participation of many famous names such as Coca-Cola, OpenSea, Optimism, Rainbow Wallet, Manifold, Parallel, etc. Users also have the opportunity to mint a unique “Base, Day One” as a testament to the network’s grand opening.

Base has attracted a lot of attention from major projects since its launch. Approximately $111 million in crypto assets have moved to Base, marking an increase of more than 85% in the last 7 days. Although Base hasn’t opened the mainnet to all users yet, the memecoin trend on this platform helped Base become famous. However, users should note that most of memecoin projects on this platform are rugpull that aim to take money from users.
