Illuvium, an open-world fantasy RPG powered by Unreal Engine 5 and running on the Immutable X (IMX) blockchain (Layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum), announced that its beta 3 is set to launch on popular game distribution platform Epic Game Store.
After months of work to meet the platform standards, Illuvium Beta 3: PVP is expected to be released on Epic Games Store on November 28, 2023. Illuvium Beta 3: PVP will have three genres and three different game modes set within the Illuvium universe, including: Overworld (an open-world exploration game), Arena (an auto battler strategy game), and Zero (a mobile and desktop city-builder).
Illuvium on the Epic Games Store doesn’t require users to connect a Web3 wallet (like MetaMask) to start the game. Players are not required to own NFTs in this Open Beta as well. Their aim is to remove barriers for traditional gamers, thereby attracting a large number of users to participate in the game.
“One of the most frustrating things about NFT games is the notion that you need a wallet and a ton of money just to try out the game. We have removed the need for wallets, and it’s free to play. We think this is the only way to get mainstream adoption”, Kieran Warwick, co-founder of Illuvium said.
Illuvium is an open-world fantasy RPG where players do quests and explore different lands to capture creatures called Illuvial. In 2021, it raised $38 million via IDO and got support from many prominent investment funds such as Delphi Digital, YBB Foundation Ltd, Moonwhale Ventures, Blocksync Ventures, Quantstamp, Yield Guild Games, etc. In June 2022, the game raised more than $72 million from the virtual land sale.
After Epic Games announced the launch date of Illuvium Beta 3: PVP, ILV became one of the top gainers on Binance and surged more than 20% to $78.85 over the past 24 hours.
