Sam Bankman-Fried could be trying to keep Bitcoin under $20,000

Former CEO of Alameda Research and ex-girlfriend of Sam Bankman-Fried revealed that Sam Bankman-Fried conspired to manipulate Bitcoin prices by deliberately selling BTC if it surpassed the $20,000 mark. He instructed the hedge fund to dump BTC acquired from FTX customer funds to stabilize prices.

Ellison said the hedge fund, Alameda Research, took about $10 billion in FTX customer funds to repay its debts and make investments. When customers rushed to withdraw funds in November 2022, neither FTX nor Alameda had enough reserves, leading to FTX’s collapse. SBF also told her to use Alameda funds to prop up the price of FTT, FTX’ native token.
