Meta Allows Creators to Post Their NFTs on Facebook

Cryptory.net - Apart from Instagram, Meta has also confirmed that Facebook will also support NFTs.

On June 29, Navdeep Singh, Meta’s technical program manager, gave a brief preview of Facebook’s new NFT PFP feature on his social channels. This feature will initially only be available to selected creators for testing. PFP is an acronym widely used in the NFT community that means “picture for proof” or “profile picture”. As in Singh’s post, users will be able to display their NFT PFP as if they were in a photo gallery. Clicking on each photo will display all their details.

The NFT support service will take time to achieve full integration, the Facebook spokesperson told Techcrunch. The feature will initially be available only to a small group of creators in the United States. The spokesperson also said that Meta is currently working on implementing NFT on other social media. This will make Whatsapp, Facebook, and Instagram more NFT-friendly, or at least with features similar to those already offered by Twitter.

    NFT Profile Pictures on Twitter

Two weeks ago, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company is testing NFT integration on Instagram so content creators can share their collection with followers. At the time, Mark noted that Meta was focusing on developing support for NFTs running on Ethereum and Polygon. Apart from to these platforms, Mark Zuckerberg also plans to support other blockchains, including Flow and Solana, when the integration with Facebook is done.

Zuckerberg has made it clear that despite being a centralized company, Facebook – now Meta – wants to accelerate decentralized Web3 adoption. He believes NFTs are the best way to start. So even though the crypto market and NFTs are in the red, Meta still bets on NFTs and Metaverse. And in that future digital world, NFTs will play a “non-fungible” role.
