Telegram Adds USDT Transfers To Chat Bot

Messaging app Telegram added USDT to its @wallet bot, expanding the messaging app's facility for buying and selling crypto

CoinDesk reported on the evening of March 22, Telegram users can now send USDT – the biggest stablecoin in the messaging app.

Integrating crypto payments into messaging apps like Telegram will essentially simplify the transaction process like sending a regular text or image. This is also a positive development for the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies for general users worldwide.

In April 2022, Bitcoin (BTC) and Toncoin (TON) were added to @wallet’s marketplace and integrated into the app’s chats.

Stablecoins like USDT offer many benefits without drastic price fluctuations like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Therefore, they are an important component for users who want to hold money in the crypto ecosystem and especially when the market corrects sharply.

Telegram rekindled its intention to enter the crypto space in 2018 with the project The Open Network (TON). But it then “abandoned” the project after being ordered to shut down by the SEC in 2019. By 2022, the project was handed over to the community, taken over, and revived by the TON Foundation.

Despite claiming to be independent, Telegram maintains an interest in the network, as evidenced by the NFT username auction market built on the TON blockchain last October.

To date, Toncoin has been listed on many exchanges and the latest update of @Wallet Bot added a P2P crypto trading service.
