Users Switching New Social Network After Elon Musk Takes Over Twitter

Cryptory.net - Twitter users are moving to a new social network called Mastodon because they disagree with Musk’s decisions.

Mastodon said its average monthly users have more than doubled to 860,000 since Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk took over Twitter. This social network basically looks a lot like Twitter. Like Twitter’s tweets, users can post, reply, like, re-post “Toots” on Mastodon.

However, Mastodon insists that it is completely separate from Twitter and other social networks. This platform describes itself as a free, open-source social network server based on ActivityPub where users can follow friends and discover new ones. It is not created for commercial purposes so there is no advertising algorithm or blue tick fee of $8/month like Musk’s new term.

Elon Musk, on Nov 7, posed a series of tweets declaring Twitter’s new mission to be “the most accurate source of information about the world”. He claimed he will “democratize journalism” and “empower the voice of the people”. However, it seems that netizens and the media have not reacted very positively. Because, many people think that Musk cannot “empower the voice of the people” while he is still charging the platform. This is completely pointless and doesn’t stop spam/bot as he wants.

The controversy surrounding the Twitter acquisition even though this deal has been completed. Shortly after taking over Twitter, Elon Musk fired more than 3,000 employees. He said Twitter’s layoffs were necessary because the company was losing $4 million per day. But now, Twitter is offering jobs back to dozens of them, claiming that they were fired “by mistake”, Bloomberg reported.

On the day Musk announced his purchase agreement, about 30,000 users joined the platform, said Mr Rochko, the founder of Mastodons Mr Rochko. It added a further 230,000 after the completion of Musk’s deal, taking its user total to about 655,000. Twitter has about 237 million active daily users.
