What is ORDI – First BRC-20 Token Listed on Binance

Cryptory.net - ORDI is a BRC-20 standard token created through Bitcoin Ordinals, also the first BRC-20 token listed on Binance.

The BRC-20 token standard utilizes Ordinals inscriptions of JSON data to deploy, mint, and transfer tokens. On Nov 7, ORDI was listed on Binance, marking an important milestone for ORDI’s development.

    Bitcoin Ordinals

Bitcoin Ordinals is a system for numbering satoshis (the smallest unit of Bitcoin), giving each satoshi a serial number and tracking them across transactions. Simply put, Ordinals creates a process called “inscription” that allows users to make individual satoshis by attaching extra data to them.

Each satoshi has a number based on the order in which it was mined, and this ordinal number is what defines it in a unique manner. This unit can be used as a form of digital currency or can be inscribed with data, such as text, images, audio, and more for use in applications, games, and digital art.

    Who created ORDI?

Domo – the pioneer in creating the BRC-20 token standard – released ORDI as a test in March 2023. ORDI is the first BRC-20 token in the crypto market.

ORDI was created through Bitcoin Ordinals and developers immediately deployed support tools for BRC-20 such as  Ordinals Wallet, Unisat Wallet after this token was issued. Then, a series of BRC-20 tokens were launched and saw a sharp increase in price like MOON, TRAC, etc.

Since ORDI was created through Bitcoin Ordinals, the community and even Binance once misunderstood ORDI as the native token of the protocol. Ordinals creator Casey Rodarmor said Binance mistakenly referred to ORDI as “Ordinals” and incorrectly linked to ordinals.com as ORDI’s official website.

“ORDI is not associated with the Ordinals project, The Open Ordinals Institute, or The Ordicord. Those links should be removed, and the token should not be named “Ordinals.” The name of the token is ORDI”, Casey Rodarmor tweeted.
