During two days of Dec 5 and 6, Axie Infinity development team continuously announced notable updates of the project, creating momentum for the impressive recovery of AXS.
Firstly, Axie Infinity announced its “Axie Contributor Initiative”, the advancement of its progressive decentralization strategy with the Axie community, which includes establishing an “Urban Planning” team, community councils, decentralizing community treasury governance, and more. Axie Infinity selected 700 community members to form Axie Contributor who will support Town Builders – the small group of Axie developers in building self-governing mechanisms for the network. The goal of this initiative is to add members to Axie Contributor, who would partake in a newly created “Governance” section on Axie Infinity’s Discord.
Then, on Dec 6, Axie Infinity announced the launch of “Axie Core”, a new concept defined as the universal Axie experience and aesthetic.
“Axie Core is the foundation for all axie gaming experiences and will create a flywheel between the gaming and collectible areas of our ecosystem. This will increase the emotional bond between our players and their axies to create a stronger, more resilient community & economy.”
Although these updates do not have a big impact on the game, AXS has grown strongly by nearly 25% over the past 48 hours. Axie Infinity in 2023 is expected to launch a Land feature, thereby creating the virtual metaverse world in the game and opening up many new game modes.
Axie Infinity has had a rough year, as the general bearish market sentiment and wider macroeconomic factors exerted downward or at best, sideways pressure on the metaverse-focused cryptocurrency, which has dropped as much as 91% since January 1, when it traded at $93.3. Other metaverse-related cryptocurrencies such as ApeCoin (APE), Flow (FLOW) and The Sandbox (SAND) also increased slightly over the past 24 hours.
