Overview of Otherside – Metaverse Project by Yuga Labs

Cryptory.net - Can Otherside become the 2nd Axie Infinity?

Otherside is a virtual game developed as an online multiplayer game that allows players to freely create and explore as they want. In Otherside, players can play, interact, connect and compete with each other.

Developed by Yuga Labs, the team behind famous NFT collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) or MAYC, Otherside has abundant financial resources, thereby attracting great attention from the community.

    Otherside universe

    Otherdeed

The early Otherside universe was made up of 100,000 pieces of land called Otherdeed. Otherdeed is dynamic NFT that can change over time. Those who own Otherdeed are called Voyagers. There are 5 tiers of Otherdeeds: Biogenic Swamp (tier 5), Chemical Goo (tier 4), Rainbow Atmos (tier 3), Cosmic Dream (tier 2), and Infinite Expanse (tier 1). Each type represents the location of the land in the Otherside universe. The rarer the land, the closer to the center and vice versa.

    Among 100,000 Otherdeeds are:

    • 10,000 Biogenic Swamp NFTs were airdropped to BAYC holders.
    • 20,000 Chemical Goo NFTs were airdropped to MAYC holders.
    • 25,000 Infinite Expanse NFTs
    • 22,000 Rainbow Atmos NFTs
    • 23,000 Cosmic Dream NFTs

Out of those 100,000 Otherdeeds, 15,000 NFTs were allocated to the Yuga team and developers, and 55,000 NFTs were available for public sale.

Yuga Labs raised more than $300 million from the sale of Otherdeeds land while costing only 4.6 million USD in development. Yuga Labs only cost $4.6 million to develop, they raised over $300 million by selling Otherdeeds. Each plot of land will have the possibility of containing natural resources, rare artifacts, and for the lucky few, a Koda.

    The Voyager’s Journey

The first phase is divided into 11 parts, each part corresponds to a big stage in the journey called The Voyager’s Journey. Analyzing and connecting the parts will help us have a comprehensive view of what Otherside can bring, current progress as well as opportunities in the Otherside universe.

First Trip: The first tech demo of the Otherside, for Voyagers only. There have been 2 experiential events that have taken place and both have a maximum of registrants. The 1st had 4,500 concurrent players including Voyagers and selected developers. The 2nd time has 7,200 concurrent players including Voyagers, developers and people invited by Voyagers.

    The Codex

Otherside has not released much information about The Codex but it can be seen as a document that describes the metaverse but evolves and continues to be written by the players as they experience Otherside.

    Koda Origins

A cosmic earthquake shakes up the universe, bringing with it a vision into the Kodas’ past and an opportunity for Voyagers to decouple their Otherdeeds’ constituent parts. Where do the Kodas and their artifacts go from here, Voyagers decide.

    The Growth

There are 4 types of resources in Otherside including: Anima, Ore, Shard, and Root. Players can exploit the type of resources that their land owns. There are 3 rarity levels of resources, details of their effect in the game have not been revealed yet. Exploiting resources will not be smooth as there will be creatures coming to disturb, which is expected to be the PVE mode of the game.

Besides resources, Otherside also has artifacts, which are considered to have a great value in the Otherside’s plot. There are more than 21,000 existing artifacts scattered in Otherdeed.

    The Agora

Players can buy, sell, barter, and trade for what they need. That means Otherside will launch a NFT marketplace right in the game. Players can also craft items from raw materials.

    The Dream

An arcade machine emerges at the center of the Biogenic Swamp. Players can play and earn rewards.

    The Choice

Otherside has announced that it will launch 100,000 new land NFTs in the future, bringing the total number of plots in the virtual universe to 200,000. The lands lying beyond the Otherside will be gradually explored and the Voyagers can choose to live in one of two places.

    The Settling

Now, players are familiar with Otherdeeds, Kodas, resources, and everything you will need in the strange land. With this, they can start crafting items and creating structures to populate their Otherdeed land.

    The Toolkit

Interoperable is one of Otherside’s concerns. When the game is officially launched, the community that owns PFP NFT in the Yuga Labs ecosystem or maybe other collections can bring their own characters into the Otherside world.

An SDK (Software Development Kit) brings opportunities for Voyagers to build what they desire on the Otherside, the world welcomes all sorts of contributions and involvement.

    The Aeronauts

Otherside Metaverse is full of surprises and mysteries, but who knows what Voyagers might discover with a different perspective.

    The Rift

Just when you think you know everything, an interdimensional rift cuts open the sky, setting you into a new adventure to explore above and beyond. Voyagers can now choose indicators and skills for their characters and continue their journey in Otherside.

    How to join Otherside

To participate in Otherside, you  first have to purchase or mint Otherdeeds NFT lands. The first wave of the mining process took place on April 30, 2022, where 100,000 out of Otherdeed’s 200,000 NFT lands were put up for auction.

During this public NFT land sale, 55,000 Otherdeed were available to KYCed wallets and 45,000 to BAYC and MAYC holders. Claim limit was 1 Otherdeed per MAYC and BAYC NFT holder and holders are allowed to claim within 21 days of the sale ending.

For “new to the Club” users, participating in the minting process means you need to KYC your wallet on somethingisbrewing.xyz.

The first wave was over, so you can’t claim or mint right now. You’ll have to wait for future waves in which the remaining 100,000 Otherdeeds NFT lands will be auctioned so get ready! Note that buying or minting Otherdeed is not the only way to participate in Otherside. You can directly join the SDK program that gives developers the tools they need to build characters, skins, structures, in-game items, and minigames for Otherside.
