Square Enix Plans to Launch Its First Ethereum-based NFT Game “Symbiogenesis”

Cryptory.net - Square Enix has announced auction dates for Symbiogenesis NFTs - its first Etereum-based NFT game and plans to launch this game in the next month.

Symbiogenesis is the first Ethereum-based NFT game of Square Enix, the studio behind the hits Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. According to a post on Twitter, the Symbiogenesis auction will span 3 waves, starting on Nov 27 and ending on Dec 3. The first wave features 10 character NFTs for the project’s investors, the second wave offers 90 NFTs for whitelisted users, and the third wave offers 400 NFTs for everyone.

Earlier in the month, Square Enix announced a unique approach to the NFT mint, stating it would not hold a public mint for Symbiogenesis. Instead, the developer stated it would be rolling out character NFTs as rewards for fans participating in the game’s official Discord server for two weeks.

Symbiogenesis is described as a gamified NFT-collecting experience” with a storyline about a mystery floating realm. Players will learn more about the game by collecting and exchanging NFTs throughout the game. Besides character NFTs minted on Ethereum, the game also features item NFTs released on the Polygon network.

Similar to traditional games of Square Enix, Symbiogenesis also has many different endings. However, only 3 players can unlock the special ending called “World Mission”.

Square Enix is the gaming giant with the most positive reception to blockchain technology. While other studios abandoned their plans due to criticism from the gaming community, Square Enix identified blockchain as a focus investment area of the company, as shown in the statement released in early 2022.

This studio last year sold $300 million worth of intellectual property related to major franchises — including “Tomb Raider” to fund its blockchain initiatives.
