In our last POST, we provided you with instructions to create an account and join the game. Let’s continue with more guidelines to enhance your journey with WonderHero.
How to play WonderHero?
To get started with the first battle, your Heroes need to be equipped with 3 Hero Skins and 3 corresponding Weapons to be added to the Team Lineup. These NFT can be bought from Wonderhero marketplace or Initial NFT box sale.
Game modes
There are 2 main modes – Battle mode (PvE) and Arena mode (PvP)
- In battle mode (PvE), each chapter has a number of challenges, completing these challenges players will be rewarded with a star. After collecting sufficient stars, players can earn more rewards.
- In the arena mode (PvP), players will face off against others for the highest ranking on the leaderboard.
Combat system
Players will lead a team of 4 Heroes fighting against the enemies. To win in battles, players need to defeat the opponents by reducing their health to 0.
1. Battle phases
There are 2 main stages in battle:
- Ally Action
- Enemy Action
Ally action phase:
In the Ally Action phase, you have to move Heroes in the best direction to attack enemies or to gain certain advantages.
Pressing the Action button will initiate the attacks and end the Ally Action phase.
* Note: Ultimate skills can be activated during this phase and will not end your turn in battles.
Enemy Action Phase
Enemy Action Phase begins when Ally Action Phase ends. In this phase, Enemies will move and launch their attack. Once the enemy has finished attacking, this phase will end and return to the Ally Action Phase. This switch allows players to move and attack accordingly.
Battle Arenas
There are special areas in the WonderHero battlefield. Any hero standing in these areas can increase stats or reduce damage. Therefore, players need to pay more attention to the position of the heroes!
There are various effects in WonderHero that can be caused by skills or areas:
- Bleed – prevents enemies from healing
- Disarm – prevents enemies from attacking
- Invulnerable – Avoid damage
- Stunned- unable to take any action
Team Lineup
Players can take 4 Heroes to a battle. It is always advised to have a balanced set of Heroes in the Team. Heroes are categorized into three groups, i.e. Human, Mech, and Cyborg.
- Human Hero has combat advantages against the Mechs.
- Mech Hero has combat advantages against the Cyborgs.
- Cyborg Hero has combat advantages against Humans.
As different Heroes are having certain advantages over others, it is important to have a mix of all Heroes in the team.
Apart from the kind of Hero, other attributes such as Weapons, Equipment, Skins, and Hero level are also important to measure the strength of a Hero.
The Weapons and Equipment will play a major role on the battlefield. They are of different types and attacking characteristics. For example, Weapons are categorized into certain elements such as Fire, Ice, Wind, Dark, Light. Similarly, Equipment is grouped into Headgear, Battlesuit, Badge which improves the base stats of the Heroes. Additionally, equipping the whole set of Equipment will grant additional skills too.
Heroes’ weapons
1. Weapon elements
There are 5 types of weapon elements: Fire, Ice, Wind, Dark, Light
2. Weapon abilities
Each weapon that hero equipped has its own attack range and features.
- Normal Attack: Hero attacks the nearest enemies. Attack does not pierce through the target or obstacles.
- Piercing Attack: Hero’s attack will pierce through multiple targets but will be blocked by obstacles.
- Leap Attack: Hero’s attack is not blocked by obstacles, but does not pierce through the target.
- Deadeye Attack: Hero’s attack is not blocked by obstacles and can pierce through multiple targets.
3. Equipments
There are many types of equipment in WonderHero. One of those are:
- Accessory
- Armor
- Armorial
- …
Equipping these will increase hero stats, improve damage, defense, and more.
There is also some rare equipment. Collecting and equipping enough, Hero will be granted additional skills. There is also some stand-alone equipment that provides additional rare skills.
Boss Fight
There are many Boss Fights in Battle Mode (PvE). Here is the essential tips you need to know about this fight:
1. Breakable Boss Parts
– Most bosses in WonderHero come with breakable parts. Defeating these parts will grant a chance to get rarer rewards. (WND tokens, NFT drops, etc)
– To damage and break these parts, the Hero needs to be equipped with a weapon with corresponding elements. Each of these parts has an HP bar that indicates its health, reducing it to 0 will break the part.
For example, if the boss part is an Ice element, you need a Hero equipped with an Ice element weapon to deal damage to it. A Fire element weapon will deal damage to the Boss HP but does not reduce the HP of the Ice element boss part.
2. Boss Ultimate Skills
Boss ultimate skill may cause serious damage to your Heroes. Look out for warning signs on the battle grids that will indicate the Boss ultimate skill’s area of effect.
