Big Time is a multiplayer action RPG developed on the Ethereum blockchain and completely free. It combines fantasy action combat and adventure in an open world, which features an engaging storyline, promising to bring players a unique experience.
In Big Time, players will play as warriors traveling through space and time to explore ancient mysteries and future civilizations while fighting against dark forces that want to destroy space and time. During combat, players can collect rare in-game items that can be used to upgrade characters or exchange with other players.
Gameplay
Character system and Pocket Watches
Big Time has 6 character classes with different skills and playstyles:
- Time Warrior: an aggressive, front line fighter that wields melee weapons to deliver close up carnage.
- Shadowblade: an agile and stealthy melee fighter, dealing death to those who stand in the way.
- Chronomancer: a powerful ranged damage class who uses magic to decimate their foes.
- Quantum Fixer: a masterful support class. Heal your allies, and bring misery to your enemies.
- Battlemancer: a master of melee and the elements, wielding powerful abilities to end their enemies.
- TechBlade: combines agility and support to either aid your allies or rain destruction
The character’s skins and armors are inspired by various periods in history, and players can customize the character as they want.
At the start, players won’t be able to change their character class until they pick up a Pocket Watch by defeating enemies. Pocket watches allow players to change character classes during gameplay. Skills, abilities and equipment are saved to the Pocket watch, enabling players to progress through each class with whatever pace and style you prefer.
Weapon system
There are 6 types of weapon in Big Time:
- Axe: Great single-target damage, suitable for 1v1 battles
- Hammer: Great damage, can be used with swords to increase defense.
- Dual swords: Flexible, can attack multiple targets.
- Great Sword: High resistance, can clear the way to destroy enemies.
- Sword: Usually used with a shield, suitable for battles that require high tactics.
- Staff: A weapon exclusive to Chronomancer, allowing it to deal damage to multiple targets at a distance.
Each weapon has its own unique combo to help players take full advantage of that weapon’s power.
Armor system
Armor has various stats and bonuses given when equipped. Armor can be found throughout the world of bigtime or purchased from a vendroid as well. Higher Rarity armor will grant higher stat bonuses as well as maybe even a unique skill. Some of the armor you will find in-game are: Helmet, Shoulders, Chest, Gloves, Leggings.
Item rarity
All items in Big Time have their own rarity. The more rare (or items that have “higher” rarity are much more likely to be better than their lower rarity counterparts. There are a total of 10 rarities from high to low:
- Unique (These items have additional skills)
- Transcendent
- Exotic
- Exalted
- Mythic
- Legendary
- Epic
- Rare
- Uncommon
- Common
- Junk (Typically starter gear, cannot be sold)
Bosses
Defeating small monsters helps players receive items and token rewards. But to get high-value NFT rewards, players must defeat final bosses in each mission and complete adventures. Currently, Big Time has 4 bosses with their own characteristics:
- The Blight: Dangerous machines with superior intelligence, often working in groups.
- The Underlings: A cunning traveler whose appearance is a combination of a cat and a toad, often hiding in mysterious caves.
- The Guardian XL: A fighting machine capable of withstanding direct hits.
- Broken Clockies: Automated omnidirectional maintenance robot.
NFTs
Space NFTs
Space NFT has a fixed supply of 600,000 NFT, which players can collect in-game or trade from Big Time’s Marketplace. Space has the same function as Land in Decentraland and The Sandbox. Space is not located in a fixed location, cannot be shared, and is linked to the player’s account in Big Time.
There are 5 rarity levels including: Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, Exalted and 3 sizes including: Small, Medium and Large. Spaces with greater rarity and size will provide more slots, helping to increase production capacity and rate to create quality items.
Cosmetic NFTs
Cosmetic NFTs are used to change skins and effects of weapons and armors. All of these effects do not affect the character’s strength stats in the game. Users can collect Cosmetic NFTs by fighting, crafting, or buying from others in the marketplace.
Utility NFTs
Players can unlock in-game utility NFTs as they progress through the Big Time adventure. These NFTs can be used as materials for other activities to enhance character strengths in the game.
Development team
Big Time was built and developed by Big Time Studio, a team of 25 veterans from many companies such as Epic Games, Blizzard, EA and Zynga. Some of their previous famous products include Decentraland, Fortnite, God of War, Call of Duty and Overwatch. Some notable members of Big Time Studio:
Ari Meilich – CEO: An advisor and former CEO of Decentraland, studied at the University of Buenos Aires and Hunter College, majoring in Philosophy and Neuroscience.
Thor Alexander – CPO & Co-Founder: Formerly Vice President of Production at Decentraland, CEO at Zynga and Lucky Puppy, has extensive experience in game development, virtual reality and machine learning.
Matthew Tonks – CTO: Graduated from University of Advanced Technology majoring in Software Engineering. Matthew has also been co-founder at BitMonster since 2012; worked with Drifter Technology as Chief Technology Officer and Epic Games as Senior AI Programmer.
